Brenda Start is a 52 year old manager at Wetherspoons. Having always led an active life and spent most of her career as a veterinary nurse, she became frustrated when she felt joint pain creeping in.

This is Brenda’s story….

I’m a manager at Wetherspoons so I’m on my feet the whole day. I’ve worked for them for 5 years. Prior to that I was a vet nurse for many years.

I’ve always led a very active life. I skied for 13 years, I’ve taught horse riding, and that’s one of those things where you assume the horse does all the work, but it can be very demanding on the rider. I used to ride a dressage horse who needed manoeuvring. All the activities I’ve done over the years have required a certain level of physical ability.

Arthritis runs in my family in a big way. Both of my parents have it and my sister has it. I still didn’t see it coming though. It developed bit by bit and slightly took me by surprise.

The pain began to frustrate me. I’ve always been a very physical person, so to feel like you’re being robbed of that is heartbreaking. Even going to the toilet became a problem – I was having to hang onto things to get up off the toilet. That’s no way to live, especially at only 52.

I was literally waking up once an hour at night with the pain in my knees. It was so debilitating, to not only be in pain but then always be tired because of the pain – and tiredness makes pain so much worse. When you’re on your feet all day you need rest.

The pain impacted so many of the little things in life. For example, the pain in my hands made it really difficult to hold a cup of tea. I was on the verge of buying a double-handled cup but the thought made me realise I had to do something about the pain I was in. Getting up off the sofa just to make the coffee was causing me pain.

“I was a little doubtful about FlexiSEQ at first but I cannot stress what a difference it has made to me.”

At first people kept saying to me “go to the doctor.” But for what? To be given a prescription of anti-inflammatories? No thank you. I didn’t want to go down that route knowing that once you start on those you rarely get off them.

My sister Diane had been using FlexiSEQ for a couple of years and suggested I try it. I thought I’d give it a go. I prefer to use natural forms of healing rather than anything drug-based if I can.

I was a little doubtful about FlexiSEQ at first but I cannot stress what a difference it has made to me. Anyone I meet who has any kind of joint pain now, whether it’s arthritis or not, I tell them how FlexiSEQ can help them.

The thing with FlexiSEQ is it’s not a cure. But it helps in a way I could not imagine. It has eased the pain and I’m so grateful. Because I work in a bar I’m on my feet all day. Before FlexiSEQ I really struggled at work. I’d often sit in my car for 10 minutes to give my knees a bit of respite before I was able to drive home at the end of a shift.

FlexiSEQ has been an amazing relief. Now I’m able to stand up all day at work and holding a cup of coffee is no longer an issue. I’m sleeping through the night now, and every now and then I wake up and put on a bit of FlexiSEQ which helps me get through the rest of the night.
