Anti-Inflammatory Ingredients
Mangos are high in vitamin C, as well as containing polyphenols and carotenoids – both of which can reduce inflammation and help to reduce bone decay; clear benefits for those living with osteoarthritis. Recent studies have also shown a compound in mangos, conveniently called mangiferin, may help control inflammation and protect joints.
Kale is something of a superfood that has numerous health benefits. Kale is packed with antioxidants that can help fight inflammation. It also contains vitamins A, C and K as well as being rich in calcium to help preserve bones.
Studies have shown that vitamin C can slow the progression and reduce symptoms of osteoarthritis. What’s more, kiwis are rich in antioxidants which can help combat the symptoms of arthritis.
While you don’t want to consume too much acidic fruit if you have osteoarthritis, oranges are nonetheless rich in vitamin C which aids in preventing inflammation and can help keep joints with osteoarthritis healthy.
Serves: 1 Prep time: 10 mins
Ingredients:
- 1 peeled and chopped mango
- 2 peeled and chopped kiwis
- 100g of chopped kale
- 1 peeled and chopped orange
- 200ml water
Instructions:
- Put all the ingredients with half the water into the blender / smoothie maker and blend for 30-40 seconds.
- Add the rest of the water and blend for roughly another 30 seconds or until it reaches the consistency you desire.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy.
