Jean Gibson is an 86 year old former factory worker who has spent her career and life always on her feet. So when a nasty fall led to joint pain Jean needed something to allow her to keep going. This is Jean’s story…
I’ve spent all my life standing and walking. I worked in a factory for many years as a printer, putting names on boxes and then I worked in a petrol station, both on the pumps and at the counter. As you can imagine, there’s no time to sit in jobs like that. You don’t understand how tiring a job can be until it’s one where you’re on your feet all day. That was my whole career. And when I say on my feet, I don’t mean on some carpeted floor, I’m talking about hard concrete flooring. It takes its toll.
I’ve got one child and one grandchild, I also have a couple of step-grandchildren as well. So lots of running around after young’uns.
A few years ago I had an accident where I fell out of bed. I’d been in the garden all day and I’m convinced I was bitten by a spider while I was out there. Because I became very confused and that night I fell out of bed and ended up in hospital. The fall damaged my right knee.
I was in a great deal of pain for a long time. I struggled to get up and downstairs, these days I rely on a stair-lift. I was then told I needed a total knee replacement and at the same time told there was osteoarthritis in the other knee but that wasn’t as bad.
Because I’m asthmatic I couldn’t use certain products. Things like ibuprofen are not good for my asthma so I started to research what could help me manage my pain. I first heard of FlexiSEQ on Facebook. I had a bit of a read about it and thought it sounded like it might do the trick. The next time I was in Boots I saw it on the shelf and thought, “well, maybe that might work for my bad knee.”
When I first started using FlexiSEQ I noticed that the pain was better. It didn’t go away but it eased it enough that I felt like I could move about a bit more freely. I’ve tried a few other joint pain gels and FlexiSEQ is the best I’ve come across.
I use it every morning, I keep a tube by my bed and a tube downstairs so it’s always where I need it. I’ve got a tube next to me on the sofa right now. My knees are still bad but FlexiSEQ helps me manage the pain so I can get by. It’s just little things like helping me get up in the morning. Because the pain is bad in the morning, I apply my FlexiSEQ, which needs a bit of time to dry. The combination of being able to slowly get up while the FlexiSEQ dries and the FlexiSEQ doing its thing helps me get going every morning. The truth is my joints are not in a good way, but that’s what years of being on your feet will do. At the end of it all you’ve got to find a way to keep going.
These days my FlexiSEQ comes in the post. My lovely niece orders it from Amazon for me. It’s much easier this way, I don’t have to go out to the shops looking for it. I’ve been recommending FlexiSEQ to people because at my age there are a few of us out there with joint pain so if it can help them like it has me I’m keen to spread the word.
